JAPJI ANNA BAS
Wellbeing Expert • Nervous System Strategist • Systems Leadership Speaker
Meet Japji
Dr. Japji Anna Bas is a wellbeing expert and nervous system strategist who helps leaders strengthen their most essential tool: their nervous system. With more than twenty years of experience at the intersection of internal motivations, social environments, and systems change, she teaches leaders how to stay clearheaded under pressure, make better decisions, and lead in ways that are both humane and effective.
Japji holds a PhD in wellbeing environments from York University and has served for six years as a peer reviewer for Social Indicators Research, the world’s leading journal in the measurement of wellbeing and quality-of-life indicators. Her work bridges rigorous research with real-world complexity: she has contributed to national and global policy conversations with the United Nations Standing Committee on Nutrition, Canada’s Ministry of Social Development, and community-based initiatives focused on early learning, food systems, trauma resilience, and anti-human-trafficking.
As the founder of Flourish Energy, a wellbeing & regenerative leadership consultancy, she works with high-responsibility leaders navigating demanding workloads, intense pressures, and complex histories. Her approach blends nervous-system science, somatic regulation, qualitative research, and strategic clarity into practical tools leaders can use immediately — from boardrooms to crisis response.
Japji’s lived experience informs her authority. Raised in Toronto with one parent on social assistance and the other in corporate law, she grew up at the intersection of social class and culture, gaining a nuanced understanding of both constraint and possibility. Her life across North America, the Caribbean, and Europe made her fluent in English, French, and Spanish — and equally adept at navigating the spaces between identities, cultures, and systems. As a Xennial, she moves fluidly between generations, translating established paradigms into emerging ones. This integration of scholarship, professional practice, and lived perspective enables her to help leaders cultivate steadiness, clarity, and meaningful impact when it matters most.
Her professional path is as interdisciplinary as her upbringing. Before launching Flourish Energy, she worked across public, private, and nonprofit sectors — from conducting psychological assessments for federal programs to running a sustainable restaurant, teaching in interdisciplinary university programs, and consulting across sectors—public, private and non-profit. This breadth of experience enables her to connect with leaders navigating complexity at every scale.
She created The Revolution Within, a practical framework that teaches leaders how to regulate their nervous system so they can think clearly, stay grounded, and lead with discernment — even in high-stakes environments. Her accessible, science-backed approach to leadership has made her a sought-after speaker, known for translating complex evidence into tools people can use immediately.
Impact leaders appreciate her ability to translate complex science into accessible, actionable wisdom — especially for audiences navigating rapid change, burnout or responsibility at scale.
Her mission is simple and profound:
To help leaders reclaim the internal steadiness that makes liberatory, sustainable change possible — starting with The Revolution Within.
